Originally founded in 1957, Barnes Real Estate Company has more than half a century of experience and expertise. William E. Barnes, Sr., a Marine Corps Captain, opened the firm upon his return from service in the Korean War. Currently owned and operated by the third generation, the brokerage handles commercial, land, and residential transactions in Virginia and Washington, D.C. Located in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria, Barnes Real Estate Company is the number one choice for your real estate needs.

Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, William E. Barnes, Jr. (Bill) has an intimate knowledge of neighborhoods, communities and commercial properties throughout the greater Washington metropolitan area. He began his work in the industry in 1979 as a broker for Cardinal Real Estate and, by the age of 28, had reopened his father’s original business. At this point he had already earned membership in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Lifetime Top Producers Club.

After graduating from The University of Mississippi with a BBA in Real Estate in 2017, Bills son, Taylor J. Barnes joined the family business after becoming a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson. Since becoming licensed in 2017, Taylor has become a member of the NVAR Top Producers club, receiving five consecutive NVAR Top Producer awards. In February of 2024, Taylor took over the family business, becoming the Principal Broker and Owner of the firm his grandfather started in 1957.

From the first-time condo purchaser to the large commercial customer, the belief in personalized service continues to define relationships with clients from the initial meeting to the completion of the transaction. As President and Principal Broker, Taylor Barnes focuses closely on the needs of each and every client, and is intimately involved in every facet of the operation.
